Vietnamese-German University (VGU) hosted the
awareness-raising seminar and stakeholder workshop in Thu Dau Mot city, Vietnam
on March 2. The seminar and workshop had three main objectives: to disseminate
the knowledge about the project, to promote and raise the awareness in smart
and energy efficient lighting, and to gather information on the current
knowledge gap and capacity building needs in the field of energy efficient and
smart lighting in Vietnam.
The seminar was attended by 67 participants
representing universities, local authority departments, research Institutes,
and industries in the field of smart lighting, lighting equipment, and energy
efficiency services. In total eight presentations on various topics were
delivered by mix of project partners ( both European and Vietnamese) and local actors
( Vietnamese industry). Presentations were followed by discussion focusing on
the current knowledge gap in the country.
On the second day, the project members had a chance to
visit the VGU new campus in Ben Cat, Binh Duong and enjoyed the lab tours in Eastern
International University (EIU) and VGU. The discussions at the VGU and EIU labs
were focused on lighting lab establishment/upgrade. In the afternoon project
members had very useful meeting to finalize need assessment survey questions.
Project coordinator also visited Ho Chi Minh City University of Technology
(HCMUT) on 4th March to discuss with the university management about
the project, and on course update and lab upgrade.
